  2. Maryland 1. Maryland was founded in 1632 by a Catholic man, Cecilius Calvert the 2nd also know as Lord Baltimore. 2. Maryland’s geography has a few mountains , lots of bay area such as Chesapeake Bay area, and some forests. 3. Maryland has harsh winters and mild summers overall it has a moderate climate. Fun Fact 4.The English were the first people to settle there.

  3. Georgia • In 1732 King George II gave land to James Oglethorpe which became the colony of Georgia. • Georgia has an Atlantic coastal plain that stretches from Massachusetts to the Florida peninsula and the Gulf of Mexico. 3. Georgia’s resources include forests, lumber, rivers, iron ore, copper, stone, wildlife, and farmland. Fun Fact Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River.

Virginia • In 1624 Virginia was founded by the London Company during the reign of James I. • The Powhatans were the Indians that lived there such as the famous Pocahontas who married Captain John Smith, an English man. • Virginias natural resource’s include forests, minerals, fertile soil, grains, lumber, and fruits. Fun Fact Mt. Rogers is the highest point in Virginia at 5,729 feet.

  5. South Carolina • South Carolina is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. South Carolina has the Coastal Plain , the Piedmont Plateau, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. • South Carolina’s climate is subtropical and humid , short mild, winters, and long hot summers. • South Carolina’s natural resources are farming land, fertile soil, water, and wildlife. Fun Fact There are 187 miles of coastline in South Carolina.

North Carolina • North Carolina has low, flat land in the eastern region and sandy farmland in the Inner Coastal Plain. • North Carolina has a humid , subtropical climate , winters short and mild, and summers very sultry. • North Carolina’s natural resources include lots of timber, minerals, agriculture, and cattle. Fun Fact People believe that North Carolina was the first state to declare independence from England

  7. where We would like to live in South Carolina if we were settlers because it has rich soil, tidewater, and a long growing season. And we can use the ocean for resources.
