  3. School / Class Rules & Procedures • Students must follow all school rules as well as posted class rules. • Students have five (5) days to serve a detention given by a teacher. Detentions are held Mon.-Thurs., 7:25-7:55. • Three (3) un-served detentions will result in a administrative referral.

  4. School / Class Rules & Procedures con’d • Phones must be turned OFF during school hours. • Every effort will be made to recover lost or stolen cell-phones; however, school is not responsible for lost or stolen phones. • The teacher has the right to confiscate phones used in class without permission. Confiscated phones will be given to the assistant principal and will be returned to a parent/guardian only. • Please refrain from calling or texting your child during school hours. Instead, you may communicate with your child by calling the school.

  5. Textbook Materials 1- binder/folder- with PAPER 1 pack of Dividers (5) 1- journal/composition book 1- tracing paper 2- pens (blue/black) 1- RED Pen 2 –highlighters 1- pack of index cards

  6. Absences & Tardies • Upon returning to school, the student must bring a note from a parent or doctor explaining the reason for the absence. • Acceptable reasons: 1. student illness, 2. doctor’s appointment, 3. death in the family, 4. religious reasons. • Absences count double on report card. (ex. 1 day absent = 2 days) • Student is responsible for making up all work. • All tardies are unacceptable unless student has a yellow pass or doctor’s note. • Student is allowed 3 tardies per quarter for “unforeseen emergencies”. After that, tardies will carry a consequence including lower conduct grade.

  7. Home Learning Policy &Student Planners • Parents and students can expect homework assignments to be given 2-3 nights a week Journal Writing, Reading assignments (on-line), Handouts (teacher provided), Review class notes / Study Skills • Late assignments will NOT be accepted without a valid reason or in cases of emergency; and at teachers discretion. STUDENT PLANNERS • Students are encouraged to use the student planners provided by the school. Parents may communicate with teachers via a note in the planner.

  8. Team Policies & Incentives • Team Leaders: Mr. Hurtado & Mr. Nemorin • Uniform policy strictly enforced. Uniform must be of appropriate size and includes a solid color belt. Shirts must be tucked in. • Students who purchase a team t-shirt can wear BLUE jeans with the team shirt on FRIDAYS only. • Students who earn good grades and meet additional criteria will be allowed to participate in quarterly incentives (game day, movie day & dance)

  9. Teacher-Parent Communication • Parents can communicate, in writing, with the teacher via email orthe student planner. • Teacher/parent conferences can be held byphone, via email, or in person. • Conference with individual teachers/counselor = callthe school and leave a message requesting the teacher/counselor to contact you. Or email the teacher/counselor directly. • “Team” conference (ALL teachers, team leader, counselor, and administrator) = call the school and request a “team” conference. The team leader will contact you to schedule a date. Team conferences are scheduled Monday & Tuesdays only; from 7:25-7:55 a.m. Call (305) 445-5467
