What is Arizona FirstNet? • Funded by the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP) providing $118M nationally for states to perform outreach and collect data for planning the NPSBN • Program within the Broadband Planning & Public Safety Communications office in ADOA-ASET along with 9-1-1 and Broadband Planning • Two main components of the SLIGP: • Education and Outreach: to inform and educate public safety stakeholders statewide; to determine how the new technology may impact governance and operations • Data Collection and Coverage: to collect agency data, coverage requirements, budget considerations, to determine possible participants and possible shared infrastructure

Local Agency Focus • Arizona has about 800 public safety agencies with about 1400 locations • Regardless of jurisdiction, we’re looking at the local agency level because that is where the relationships are established • DPS sub-stations • Local federal agency representation • Many of the tribal public safety agencies are already members of Regional Wireless Systems

How To Get Involved • Stay informed • Monitor Arizona FirstNet activities and discuss the program with the appropriate personnel within your city or town. • Ask questions • Some discussions may be very technical but your understanding of the concepts is critical to ensuring the practical, front-line needs of your first responders will be met. • Enable the interaction • Assure your public safety agencies are aware and have the opportunity to engage. • Host a local FirstNet meeting. • Provide input about your needs – this is YOUR network.
