  1. NWS Lightning Data Buy * Vaisala will provide CG lightning data for all of CONUS, the 48 contiguous states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and 500 km off shore and into Canada and Mexico * Vaisala will provide CG lightning data for OCONUS, which encompasses an area bounded by the Prime Meridian to the coast of Japan (115 E) and from 25 deg S Latitude to the North Pole (includes AK, Mexico, Western Pacific Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean * Earth Networks Inc will provide total lightning data (CG and IC) for all of CONUS, the 48 contiguous states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and 500 km off shore and into Canada and Mexico **NWS Program Manager: Harold Daley * Vaisala data provision will remain the same but for integration of GLD 360 data into AWIPS and get it into format usable by NWS offices. * The contract supports only NOAA agencies. No other agency or state Government has rights to (get/use) from us the data for any objectives they may have. The only way an agency other than NOAA can get the data from us is to have a signed MOA with that agency to share the data, and be approved by the Contractor and the Contracting Officer.

  2. NWS Lightning Data Buy – cont’d * NWS has been working with ENI to get access by WFOs, RFCs, CWSUs and NCEP centers to their total lightning data. Data archived at NCDC. * For the next 6 months ENI will provide access to their servers and web-based software (Streamer-RT) to over 150 NOAA offices and centers. * ENI and NWS personnel will work on the integration of ENI total lightning data into AWIPS II and NAWIPS * ENI will provide training on data access, processing and visualization
