  3. California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board Regulatory Overview Regulation adopted in 2001 Required by Health and Safety Code 43105.5 Provides access to dealership-quality service information and tools over Internet Implementation began March 2003

  4. California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board Requirements for Heavy-Duty Vehicles Regulation expanded in 2004 to include 2007+ “EMD” equipped HD Vehicles Tools availability requirements deferred until more advanced OBD requirements adopted (July 2005)

California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board Proposed HD Tools Requirements Tools and information availability Emission-related diagnostic tools and recalibration/reconfiguration equipment Training may be required as condition for sale Data stream and bi-directional information available to independent diagnostic tool manufacturers Similar to light-duty requirements 2013 Implementation

California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board Deletion of HD Transmission Requirements HD transmission manufacturers are not covered by other ARB regulations OBD requirements do not currently apply to HD transmission manufacturers Staff will monitor role of HD transmission manufacturers in emissions compliance, and return with amendments if necessary
