  1. Health & Social Care Network The Final Countdown… Presented by Dan Parry: HSCN Migration Programme Head

  2. HSCN Revolutionising data networks…

  3. The Health and Social Care Network… HSCN is the replacement network solution for health and social care Integrating health and social care - mixed connectivity through a single connection Migration to HSCN is delivering reduced costs of ownership and VFM (up to 74% savings) Regional collaboration and local determination/ownership – buying responsibility locally HSCN has disaggregated the market, organisations are now procuring on 2-3 year terms HSCN is already demonstrating a need and demand for full fibre

  4. Digital Ambitions and Full Fibre… Aug 2020: estimate circa. 70-80% of the NHS estate will be on fibre via HSCN migration Remaining 20-30% will be driven to adopt fibre at their next procurement cycle Fibre is a fundamental component for the NHS to achieve its digital ambitions The Long Term Plan’s digital agenda will only increase full fibre demand NHS Digital are working with DCMS on full-fibre initiatives Migration from TN/N3 to HSCN remains the immediate priority

  5. Progression to HSCN… 79% of awarded services have placed an order 47% of services have been deployed 34% of the Transition Network has been ceased 50% TN Decommission 100% TN Decommission 31st Dec 19 30th Aug 20 96% of services have been awarded to a new supplier

  6. Implementation of HSCN Accelerating migration…

  7. Time is of the essence… Less than one year to complete migration to HSCN Devolved funding based on your Trusts & CCG progressing against critical dates Organisations connected to TN/N3 after Aug 2020: liable for costs of on-going connectivity Order confirmation will provide estimated install dates and lead-times that may apply Failure to identify lead-times is a risk to completing migration by August 2020 NHS England/Improvement will be contacting all organisations still connected

  8. GP IT Operating Model (HSCN Reference)… Practice premises are required to migrate to HSCN connectivity no later than August 2020 Practices to have appropriately sized HSCN connectivity supporting current/future needs ADSL services are prohibitive in the adoption of digital services and should no longer be used to for primary connectivity Future procurements for network connectivity are required to obtain full-fibre connectivity requirements: FTTP services as a minimum GPs should consolidate their network connectivity and use HSCN connectivity for both Internet and private network connectivity, ensuring reliable, secure and value for money

  9. Accelerating Migration… Ensure you have commenced/concluded the procurement of overlay services Ensure HSCN Supplier is aware of your critical dates and drive them to move at a pace Work through the supporting HSCN documentation on the NHS Digital website Identify and secured the required resources to progress migration to HSCN (e.g. CSU) Identify and understand your constraints: budgets, resources, remediation works, wayleaves, CSU or supplier performance Talk to your HSCN Migration Manager: NHS Digital are here to help and support you!

  10. Benefits of HSCN Reasons to accelerate…

  11. Organisations are benefitting from HSCN… Increasing bandwidth within connectivity budgets Capabilities to drive forward transformation Improved access to existing clinical systems Full range of case studies detailing benefits: www.digital.nhs.uk Efficiencies in procuring like for like connectivity (up to 74%)

  12. Key Messages…

  13. In Summary… Migration to HSCN is a high priority: accelerate your migration to HSCN now Pursue fibre-connectivity through migration to HSCN: unless it will slow you down!
