INDUCTION : Safety and Training PURPOSE: Training in safety, health, industrial hygiene and environmental matters allows Olympic Fencing to meet it’s legal and moral obligations by providing people working on our premises with sufficient information to enable them to work safely and responsibly. This training provides a guide to the responsibilities we all take towards ourselves and our workmates. SCOPE: This induction lists the core activities of Olympic Fencing and the roles we play. Its content is relevant to employees and contractors alike. Factory Induction

RESPONSIBILIES: • Management SAFE PLACE OF WORK, SAFE PROCEDURES Management is responsible for ensuring that: • each employee, contractor, staff member and visitor is provided with a Safe Place to Work and • each employee, contractor, staff member and visitor receives appropriate safety training. • safe procedures for work have been nominated through risk assessments and ongoing consultation with employees • Employee / Contractor / Visitor PARTICIPATE, COMPLY WITH PROCEDURES It is the responsibility of each each employee, contractor, staff member and visitor to: • participate fully in this training to reduce the risks to themselves and others. • countersign safety briefing sheets as an acknowledgment of that training. • comply with the Safe Work Method Statements, procedures and work practices. • not engage in tasks for which they have not received training. For example, only trained qualified persons to operate forklift. Factory Induction

ABOUT OLYMPIC FENCING ORIGINS: Olympic fencing has evolved from country origins as a small business and has a developed into a productive and profitable fencing business with over 40 full time staff, more than 20 teams of subcontrators and a number of locations and manufacturing facilities in NSW. Our head office is based at Tomago. Olympic Fencing manufacturer a range of fencing products, maintains a large pool of sub contract installers and specializes in COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL, SECURITY and DOMESTIC fencing Olympic Fencing are experts in managing and executing large fencing contracts for both government agencies and private sector clients. Products: • Weldmesh: Welded wire products used in School, Garden and Pool fencing, providing an economical and safe fence. • Tubular: Ornamental, round tube fencing in both steel and aluminium, to a variety of designs involving flat top, loops, spears and rings in 10 standard designs , plus custom made to suit many requirements (compliant with AS1926.1-1993-App.A). Aluminium sections are preferred in salt laden atmospheres, such as pool and coastal environments, which may have long term effects on steel products. Factory Induction

Security: Standard and custom built fencing of robust design, including sliding and motorised gates, which keep property and assets safe, with a pleasing aesthetic design. • Chainwire: Light , Medium or Heavy duty pipework frames enclosed with galvanised or PVC coated interlocking wire in “barbed” or “knuckle” finish. Can be used in industrial environments with “barbed” or “razor” wire or alternatively (with PVC coating) surrounding Bowling Greens and Tennis courts. Chainwire is custom made (in our Tomago premises) in four mesh sizes, two wire gauges and seven standard roll heights. Compliant with AS1725-2003 Factory Induction

  7. MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE METHODOLOGY: Olympic Fencing is a “family” based company, with a flexible approach to its workforce and approachable management structure. There is direct access to the manager by all employees however a tiered structure that delegates responsibilities through the business exists. Key persons in the business are: • Graham Braithwaite is the sole director, manager and owner of Olympic Fencing. • Steve Boyton is the manufacturing foreman and supervises all activity on the factory floor • Daniel Towers is the installation manager and looks after installation crews • Angela Sander is the internal accountant and payroll officer Factory Induction

  8. SAFETY EQUIPMENT • SAFETY GLASSES: The wearing of Safety Glasses with Side Shields is compulsory in any area where cutting, welding and grinding take place. Suitable eyewear is provided by the company • SAFETY FOOTWEAR: Employees working in production areas are required to wear approved safety footwear with steel toecaps. Employees carrying out welding tasks must wear approved safety footwear (boots) with suitable ankle protection. • SAFETY HELMETS: Wherever there is the possibility of persons working overhead, or objects falling from above, then all personal will require to wear safety helmets. In addition, several site locations require the wearing of safety helmets as a condition of entering the site. Factory Induction

  9. LONG SLEEVES and LONG PANTS: For their own safety and welfare, employees conducting welding , grinding or cutting processes, are required to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants. Factory Induction

GLOVES: For employees handling sharp or hot objects, or chemicals of any kind, suitable gloves are provided to protect the employee from skin contact. • MASKS: Many materials and processes produce gases which can be harmful to the employee if inhaled. Several different masks are provided for employee protection. Consult the MSDS for indication of requirement. Factory Induction

EAR PROTECTION: Employees using Saws and Grinding equipment can experience noise which can be detrimental to their long term hearing, unless suitable ear protection (provided by the company) is worn. • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet): All chemicals accepted on to the site must be provided with an MSDS, which indicates the possible dangers and/or consequences of the materials and their constituent parts. Please read and comply with the recommendations of the MSDS before use or contact with the material. Discuss any concerns with your supervisor. Factory Induction

HOUSEKEEPING: It is every employees duty under “Workcover” to maintain their place of work in a neat and tidy “safe” condition. i.e. • Keep aisles , stairs and walkways clear at all times. • Dispose of waste and scrap in proper receptacles daily. • Do not overfill racks, bins or storage areas. • Switch equipment “off” and put things away when they are no longer in use. • Electrical cords are to be kept out of aisle ways. • Desks and bench tops are to be kept well organised when in use and cleared at the end of the day. • Time is allocated on Fridays to ensure full clean-up of work areas, which will be followed by a housekeeping audit to ensure compliance. • FIRE SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Inspect Fire Safety Equipment weekly to ensure the equipment is within compliance for testing and in an operating condition (i.e.. not spent). All spent extinguishers should be notified to management immediately after use. Annual training in use of extinguisher is to be provided for all employees. Factory Induction

ENVIRONMENT • SPILLS and EMISSIONS: All spills and emissions over 4 Litres / 4 Kilograms should be reported immediately to management to ensure suitable precautions are taken to prevent damage to the environment. • RECYCLING & WASTE DISPOSAL: Solid waste in both Steel and Aluminium will be placed in the receptacles provided and sold to recyclers as and when full. Chemical waste usually in liquid form, must be placed in suitably sealed drums and passed to an approved company for suitable , safe disposal. Factory Induction

  14. DRAINS: Only CLEAN WATER is allowed into STORM WATER drains Waste from TOILETS, HAND BASINS, KITCHEN SINKS , WATER COOLERS and SHOWERS is allowed into SEWER DRAINS. DO NOT ALLOW CHEMICALS or SOLVENTS INTO ANY DRAINS If in doubt place the material in a suitable sealable container for off site disposal. • FIRE: Particularly in summertime, our environment is susceptible to fire caused by the emission of heat, sparks or open flame. In addition to the Fire precautions mentioned earlier, it is every employees responsibility to be aware of the consequences of their actions. Factory Induction

SECURITY PROPRIETARY INFORMATION: Information used in the operation of the company and design of products, contained on computer or hard copy (paper) is and remains the property of the company (Olympic Fencing (NSW) Pty Ltd). This information must not be communicated to persons outside of the company without the express approval of GRAHAM BRAITHWAITE. Factory Induction

  16. REMOVAL OF GOODS FROM THE FACTORY: All equipment removed from the factory for use on-site by contractors must:- Be recorded in the Factory Equipment Log on both Removal and Return. Any loss of equipment, or equipment not returned, may incur cost of recovery from the site to which it was allocated (or the contractor responsible for that site). No equipment shall be removed from the premises, by employee, contactor or visitor, without a signed note of approval from management. Being caught removing equipment or materials from site without this authority can render the person subject to dismissal. Factory Induction

  17. MATERIALS PROHIBITED: The following items are prohibited on Olympic Fencing property or site operated under contract by Olympic Fencing:- WEAPONS CAMERAS INTOXICATING BEVERAGES NARCOTICS (or any other drugs) Unless specifically approved in writing by GRAHAM BRAITHWAITE. Factory Induction

ACTIVITIES WHICH ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE: The following activities will not be tolerated on Olympic Fencing property or any of the sites operated under contract by Olympic Fencing:- STEALING DRINKING or DRUNKENNESS SLEEPING DESTROYING PROPERTY SCUFFLING OR HORSEPLAY GAMBLING RECKLESS DRIVING VIOLATION OF SAFETY RULES BULLYING Anyone engaged in any of the above activities will be required to leave and may be refused re-admittance.   19. STARTING / FINISHING TIMES: Normal hours of work : 7:00am to 3:30pm Note: If experiencing any problems in attending work on any day it is imperative that you report in by phone on (02) 4964 8335. Failure to do so could affect your continuity of work. Factory Induction

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FIRE: Fire SENSORS are strategically placed around the premises at 16 Laverick Avenue, (South Site) which , in case of fire, report directly “back to base” through “Novocastrian Alarms and Video”. (Tel: Control Room 1300 650 370 : Service 49 650 650) Video surveillance of the 18 Laverick Avenue (North Site) premises is the only means of fire detection and reporting of fire will be by direct call to the Fire Brigade ( Tel: 000) If a fire is detected, the employee is trained in the use of extinguishers, and the fire is within the capability of the extinguishers available, then the fire should be extinguished accordingly (break seal, remove pin, aim at base of fire and squeeze trigger). If the employee is not familiar with the use of extinguishers, then it must be reported immediately to management who will direct suitable actions to fight the fire and/or alert the Fire Brigade.   21. SITE EVACUATION: In case of FIRE, BOMB THREAT, or ANY DANGEROUS INCIDENT, all employees will be requested to evacuate the premises quickly but safely to the nominated Safe Area (between the yard area and the road on the South side of Laverick Avenue). On arrival at the Safe Area, report to your immediate supervisor or (in his/her absence) a member of the management team, to confirm your safe evacuation and to be advised as to the procedure to follow.   22. ACCIDENT: In the case of an accident requiring FIRST AID , the incident should be reported immediately to the OH&S representative who will delegate a qualified person to apply the necessary first aid, and report the incident in the First Aid log book. If the incident requires more than First Aid, the OH&S representative will organise care and transport to a Medical Centre or Hospital with suitable facilities. Factory Induction

  23. FIRST AID LOG BOOK: (located in First Aid Box) Allows for the registering of all incidents involving First Aid or any other medical treatment. • NEAR MISS LOG: A document permitting the recording of potential damage to persons or property which did not actually result in an incident, but in other circumstances may have done so. Highlighting incidents of this kind (also termed NEAR HIT) can initiate corrective actions to prevent the incident occurring at some future point in time. • INCIDENT REPORT: Any incident that causes damage to PERSON, PROPERTY or the ENVIRONMENT, must be reported immediately to management, to ensure prompt and suitable actions and adequate reporting of same.   24. NON-CONFORMANCE REPORT: Where it is recognised that a PRODUCT or PROCESS does not meet the documented standards required by Olympic Fencing or is visually or structurally defective it is every workers responsibility to bring this to the attention of management. A non-conformance shall be raised and passed to the Quality Manager for processing. An investigation may be carried out to recommend and implement actions to prevent re-occurrence. • CUSTOMER COMPLAINT REPORT: Any report of dis-satisfaction by a customer can have a potentially damaging effect on Olympic Fencing and its ability to maintain employment for its workers. It is essential therefore that ALL customer complaints are recorded and investigated promptly and efficiently. The investigation will be carried out to recommend and implement actions to prevent re-occurrence. • CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SHEET: This document will be handed to the customer with a verbal explanation as to it’s content. It will identify if the site work is considered satisfactory, and what (if anything) is required to meet the customers valued approval. Failure to obtain an acknowledgment could result in a customer complaint. Factory Induction
