  4. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. John 8:3b-6.

  5. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.” They were using this question as a trap (catch)

  6. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. John 8:7

  7. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. John 8:7b-8

  9. “Woman, where are they?” John 8:10a Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:33-34

  10. Mercy Marker Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. John 8:10-11a Mercy releases us from eternal judgment “Therefore there is now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

  11. Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” John 8:10b-11 Mercy offers us an opportunity to start a new life Mercy Marker
