  1. Evolution of Light Weight Filler Neck Rubber hoses used for automotive gasoline piping were changed to lamination structures. It was done by using low gasoline diffusion materials to save fuel seepage from hose wall surfaces, and by following more and more tightened policies for hydrocarbon evaporation. The filler hose specs have undergone tremendous evolutions following the necessities of regulations. In the meantime, we saw an improvement of light-weight products that were aimed towards improved fuel performance. We have been engaged in the resinification of filler pipes and evolved an integral kind resin filler neck hose mixed with a filler hose. Technological Trend and Current Issues The application of regulations for hydrocarbon evaporation in the State of California, U. S. A. In 1996 worked as the opener to reply to environmental issues, & hence similar policies were applied in each area. Regulations for Hydrocarbon Evaporation Region Regulation Name Applicable Year USA (California) LEV I Since 1996 LEV II Since 2000 LEV III Since 2015 China National VI Emission Standards Since 2018 Japan Post-New Long Term Standards Since 2009 Europe EURO6 Since 2015 Asia EURO4 Since 2017 They are the policies that save the destruction of the ozone layer as a result of hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and more. They are held in evaporative fuel and emissions that are discharged from vehicles into the air. In recent years, evaporative hydrocarbon emissions give a serious hassle mainly in North America and China in which numerous motors are sold, and rules have been tightened. In Japan, Europe, and Asian countries, too, regulations concerning hydrocarbon evaporation are in force and are anticipated to be tightened comparably.

  2. Material Changes of Filler Hose Regulations for hydrocarbon evaporation were focused on alcohol blended gasoline to reflect gas market trends. The filler hose became the layered structure and the usage of fluoro-rubber with high low-fuel permeation from the NBR-PVC rubber single-layer structure. When the alcohol blended fuel was adopted, a hose with different materials, composite shapes were developed with thin-film fluoro resin laminated at the rubber hose inner surface. In North America, LEV III has been applied when in 2015, the gasoline permeation amount became stringently regulated. A seal structure became essential to prevent even a slight leak from the fuel tank along with the joined surfaces in the filler pipe. A brief connector that is a part of them in a single operation absorbs variations in components and processes at joint clusters. Reduced Number of Joined Portions Usually, a resin tube joins to a steel pipe through a connecting component called a brief connector, with an O-ring used as the seal portion. However, the high-speed connector with a filler pipe size (outdoor diameter: around 35 mm) has a huge outside diameter. In the case of the filler piping that routes its way through clearances between inner fender and suspension arm movement ranges, the connections were not freely laid out, so one can stable clearance to prevent interference. Also, there were tremendous obstacles as per design. Conclusion Typically, it was a commonplace practice to use a short connector to join a resin tube to a metallic pipe. However, this technique elevated a variety of components, applying an impact on the value. The range of activities was reduced with the support of designing modules, and an easy feature configuration was used to obtain a low-price design.
