  2. Some reading . . . • Go to the Tsunami document on the T-Drive. • Follow the links and read the articles. • Answer the questions on the document. • Be prepared to share your answers.

  3. Dynamic Planet Map Open the Dynamic Planet Map. Where would you expect to find the types of earthquakes that could cause tsunamis?

  4. A math problem . . . • On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck Japan. The epicenter was 43 miles from the coast of Japan. • Tsunami waves travel at about 500 mph. • How much warning time could the coastal cities possibly have? In other words, how long after the earthquake did the tsunami strike the coast?

  5. Seismographs again . . . • Could a seismograph help warn you of a tsunami? How? • Could a seismograph tell you how much time you have before a tsunami hits?
