  3. The Open Window FramtonNuttel comes to Mrs Sappelton‘s house to visit her. He does not know her because he has just moved to this country. However first he met her niece Vera. She tells him that her aunt is mad because she lost her husband and two young brothers who went out to the forest throught the open window. They never came back and the window is still opened, because Mrs Sappelton is waiting for them. When Mrs Sappelton comes to welcome the visitor she asks if he don‘t mind the window open, because she is waiting for her husband and brothers. So Framton thinks that she is really mad. While they are speaking Mrs Sappelton shouts: ,,Here they are at last!“ And three beings come through the opened window. Framton is in shock and thinks that they are ghosts and run away. All the story about lost man was only Vera‘s fancy.
