  3. Parents Perspective • Lack of trust of the teachers and administration • Kids stay until Kindergarten and then move to charters or to suburbs • Parents were in the classrooms with notepads

  4. Biggest Challenges • Working with an Assistant Principal who did not get the job • Establishing a working and trusting relationship with parents (2 board members of 9, including the president are parents in the school) • Bringing a splintered staff together to move the school forward.

  5. Action Plan • Make the Assistant Principal feel like a partner in the process • Be extremely visible both physically and virtually. Always answer within 12 hours if possible. • Assess current staffing relationships and build scheduling structure to maximize buy-in to the vision of the school

  6. Instructional Leadership • Demonstrations of Learning • Instructional Walkthroughs • Paradigm shift from “Teaching” to “Learning” • Use of data to drive instruction • Coffee-Talks

  7. AchieveNJRegulations • Establish Trust • Know the Code • Understanding the additional stress and paperwork required • Assist teachers by providing all the rubrics in advance and create PLC’s to discuss what an effective teacher looks like

  8. PLAN FOR YEAR 2 • PARCC • STEAM Schedule • ReVamp CASPER • ROLLOUT THE TIGER!!!!
