  3. II. GET A CLUE!! A. If I write = YOU write (including illustrations) B. Repetition B. Repetition B. Repetition C. Emphasis 1. tone of voice & gesture 2. amount of time & examples D. Word Signals : “the third reason…” or “ in conclusion…” E. Summaries at end of class. F. Reviews at beginning of class.

  4. III. HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS A. Keep it BRIEF! • Use simple words and phrases…. • (don’t write what I say word for word!) 2. Use consistent abbreviations and symbols. B. Sometimes you need to note EXACTLY • Formulas • Definitions – use highlighter • Specific Facts • Examples • All numbered or listed items

  5. III. HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS C. Use OUTLINE form -numbering and indentations help organize points D. Miss something?....skip spaces….ASK LATER! E. Don’t use every space…may want to reorganize later. F. DATE your notes, perhaps NUMBER pages. G. Write down corresponding page numbers in textbook
