Attending the course • Wewillcheckyourpresence in class (youneed to be presentat more than 5 sessions - out of the first 10 sessions – to be considered an attendee) • Learning by attending the courseis more effectivethanlearningthrough the pages of the book – for severalreasons • Ifyou decide to follow the course • notes are crucial: ifyouskip a lecture, ask notes to yourcollegues • flexibility on course schedule isrequested • youcan’tforgetthatyourwrittengroup work has 2 precise deadlines • the teacherswillnotinterveneinto the dynamics of the group – develop an integrationcapabilityis part of the learningexperience

Group Work • Define a group of 6-7 students (mix backgrounds!) • Teams’ composition and subject of analysis (case or topic) are to be notified to in class (beforeOct 23) • The title of the groupprojectisdefined on a FIFO (FCFS) policy • A hard work, but… “Ifyouwant to walk fast, walk alone; ifyouwant to walk far, walk with others” (Africansaying)

  14. Group Work • The output should be structured in 7 sections • A brief overview of the company • Results • Competitive Situation • Strategic Choices • OrganizationalChoices • Otherspecificissues (ethics/culture/entry strategies etc.) IF theyinfluencedresults • Conclusions

  15. Group Work • Look for information on internet and in the library (electronic first! Data Bases of articlesavailable!) • The expected output is a .ppt file (20-30 slides) to be presented in 20 minutes; you are free to choose the groupmembersthatwillpresent the work • You are invited to use the space under the slides Files and papers are expected to be delivered on December 4in order to be considered attendees

  16. Group Work • Deliver the document in twoforms: paper + .ppt file • Only on December 4 youwilldiscoverwhichgroupwillpresent on the sameday or later. The date of presentationdoesnotinfluenceourevaluation (youdeliver file and paper on the sameday) • Only for attendees, therewill be a question on one of the presented companies (to be chosenamong 2 – youcannotanswer on your company)

  17. Language • Lectureswill be given in English • The group work must be written and presented in English • The writtenexamis in English, meaningthatquestionswill be in English and answers must be given in English (unlessyou are an Italianstudentattending a degreedelivered in Italian)
