  2. The effects of smoking on human health are serious and in many cases, deadly.

  3. There are approximately 4000 chemicals in cigarettes, hundreds of which are toxic. Аt least 250 are known to be harmful. Аt least 69 can cause cancer.

  4. All forms of tobacco are harmful and addictive. There is no safe tobacco product.

  5. Nicotine reaches the brain within 10 seconds after smoke is inhaled. • It has been found in every part of the body and in breast milk.

  6. Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body and diminishes a person’s overall health. Smoking is a leading cause of cancer and death from cancer. It causes cancers of the lung, esophagus, larynx, mouth, throat, kidney, bladder, pancreas, stomach, and cervix, as well as acute myeloid leukemia.

  7. Smoking also causes heart disease, stroke, aortic aneurysm (a balloon-like bulge in an artery in the chest), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (chronic bronchitis and emphysema), asthma, hip fractures, and cataracts. Smokers are at higher risk of developing pneumonia and other airway infections.

  8. Smoking is so harmful… • Why do people ever start smoking?

  9. Some reasons: • Some young start because they think it’s cool. • They may see older people do it. • Maybe their friends smoke and they want to fit in. • Some just want to impress the opposite sex. • Their Parents are smokers and they can easily steal them from their pack. • Some people think it’s good way to relax and to calm down.

  10. Every cigarette takes 10 min off your life. • Therefore one pack would take 200 min of your life. • On pack a day for a week is 1400 min. • In one year that is 72800 min.

  11. Also smoking is harmful for non-smokers. Secondhand smoke (also called environmental tobacco smoke, involuntary smoking, and passive smoking) causes disease and premature death in nonsmoking adults and children. Exposure to secondhand smoke may increase the risk of heart disease by an estimated 25 to 30 percent.
