  1. A Learning Circusfor Diffusion and Osmosis Brenda Douglas Clarksville High School Biology brenda.douglas@cmcss.net

  2. Diffusion and OsmosisStation # 1 Click here to review the concepts of diffusion and osmosis. In your Scientist Notebook, briefly describe the processes of osmosis and diffusion. (You may do this by words and/or diagrams) Click here to view cells in hypertonic, hypotonic and isotonic solutions. In your Scientist Notebook, explain the difference between these types of solutions. Describe the movement of water in each type of solution.

  3. Diffusion and OsmosisStation # 2 Observing Osmosis in Elodea Cells Click here to link to activity. Follow the directions for this activity and record your observations in your scientist notebook. Copy the questions at the end of the activity into your Scientist Notebook and record your answers.

  4. Diffusion and OsmosisStation # 3 Osmosis and Diffusion Activity Click here for directions.

  5. Diffusion and OsmosisStation # 4 Osmosis and Diffusion Card Sort Activity Cut out the table provided and paste it in your Scientist Notebook. Study the cards with pictures of a beaker. The circle inside the beaker represents either a cell or a dialysis tube. Sort the cards according to the direction of movement of materials in the beaker. Record your observations and conclusions on the table in your Scientist Notebook . (Observation Table and Cards will be provided)

  6. Diffusion and OsmosisAssessment Assessment Follow the directions for Diffusion and Osmosis Check Your Understanding after you have completed all the above activities.

  7. Diffusion and OsmosisTeacher Page Diffusion and Osmosis Card Sort Click here for cards Teacher should copy pictures of beakers and laminate them on index cards. Make several sets for this station. Click here for observation table Teacher should make one copy of the observation table for each student. Diffusion and Osmosis Assessment Teacher should make one copy of the assessment for each each student.
