  1. Parts of the Microscope

  2. Eyepiece --Allows you to view the image on the stage and contains the ocular lens

  3. Arm -- Located on side of microscope; used to support it when it is carried

  4. Stage Clips -- Used to hold a slide in place on the stage

  5. Base -- The bottom part of the microscope

  6. Course Adjustment -- Moves the stage up and down to help you get the specimen into view

  7. Fine Adjustment -- Moves the stage slightly to help you sharpen or “fine” tune your view of the specimen

  8. Objective Lenses -- Found on nosepiece; range from low to medium to high power

  9. Diaphragm -- Helps you adjust the amount of light that reaches the specimen(1-5)

  10. If you’re looking at something under the 10x objective, how much total magnification is there AND why? The total magnification is 100x BECAUSE…..the ocular lens (eyepiece) has its own magnification of 10x. Therefore 10 x 10 = 100 times magnification

  11. You put a slide on the stage and look through the eyepiece, but you can’t see anything. Name 3 things you should do/check BEFORE calling Mrs. FL to come help.
