How we got involved! • Jack Lindsley, Faith Based Sector Rep. • Asked me a question after attending Oregon Prevention Conference in Eugene Or. • “What is the #1 way to help prevent Suicide? • FACT: Oregon has a 35% higher rate of suicide than the National average . • Breakfast! Sadder Fact Columbia County’s rate is higher than Oregon’s

Indentified Collaborators • Vernonia School District • Keep kids attached to school • Pioneer Baptist Fellowship • Increase membership opportunities • Participate in meaningful volunteer opportunities • St. Helen’s Summer Meal Program • Provide meals to youth during summer • Vernonia Food Bank • Provide support to needy families • Master Gardeners • Increase knowledge about self sufficiency in food systems • Hands on Art • Expand participation in the arts

What’s in store for 2012 • Moving to a new location • School to be demolished • Adding new participating groups • Oregon Youth Conservation Corps - Vernonia • Camp Wilkerson (90 meals per day for 5 days) • Local Dentist • Picks on trays 1x week • Toothbrushes summer’s end • Lions club – Celebration BBQ • Many more…
