  4. Tip #2 - Audience • To whom are you speaking? • Adults vs. Teenagers • BOV vs. Pre-Knobs • Consistency = Focus • Can audience see/read content?

  5. Tip #3 - Text • YOU are subject-matter-expert • K.I.S.S. principle • One main point per slide • Rule of 6x6 • Make it legible • Headings – 40’s • Bullets – 24 to 36pts

  11. Spanish Armada, 1588 Sept. – Oct. About two-thirds of Armada eventually escapes bad weather and sails home to Spain. July 21st Armada leaves Corunna to sail up English Channel to Low Countries, where army to invade England is to be waiting. Medina-Sidonia sends pinnace to duke of Parma there, requesting him to mobilize troops. July 30th Armada enters English Channel, where Medina-Sidonia is surprised to find main English fleet at Plymouth. Armada adopts crescent battle formation. After delay caused by tides and wind, English fleet sails to meet it. July 31st-Aug. 1st English attack outermost Spanish vessels with long-range gunfire. Nothing is sunk but San Salvador explodes. Overnight, Drake breaks line to capture payship Rosario. English fleet regroups; Medina-Sidonia consolidates Armada's crescent formation and sends message to Parma urging rendezvous at Calais. Aug. 2nd Armada reaches Portland Bill. English and Spanish ships engage in fierce battles. Frobisher in Triumph fights off multiple attack. English ships fire heavily on Spanish but do little damage. Their ammunition runs low. Aug. 3rd – 6th English fleet divides into four squadrons and stops Armada entering Solent. Armada sails east and English fleet follows but has too little ammunition to renew attack. Armada drops anchors off Calais but discovers Parma's army is not ready. Aug. 7th – 8th During night, English fireships break Armada's formation. Battle of Gravelines sees nine hours of close fighting between English and Spanish ships. Many vessels on both sides are damaged. One Spanish ship sinks, and English fleet, helped by storm, drives rest into North Sea. Aug. 13th After being harried by English ships and battered by storms, Armada sails north, intending to round coast of Scotland and sail south to Spain. Conditions on board are poor. Aug. 24th Storms disperse Armada off north coast of Scotland. Sept. – Oct. Fierce storms drive many ships towards Irish coast. More than 25 ships are wrecked and thousands of crew drown or are killed by English soldiers when they reach shore.
