Research Update Total research funding up a few percent over the first half of the academic year Review of BMC and BUSM joint research structures underway DOM providing assistance to SIG applications Review of how to assist K awardees underway New models to facilitate interactions of clinicians and researchers being piloted and facilitated through the Evans Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research -e.g., Diabetes seminar

Clinical Update BMC examining strategies to increase volume wRVU targets will be increased in 2011-12, details to be discussed further Inpatient Medical Service discharge volume trailing 2010 but Observations patients have increased Outpatient volume continues to grow and wRVU’s up YTD Mortality on inpatient service has declined Access for new patients is a major priority Group being formed to establish a Physicians Organization at BU/BMC
