  5. Challenges • Poor infrastructure • - Power, roads, transportation, storage facilities • Target audience (middleman dilemma) • Creating a market and reaching critical mass • Reluctance to partner • Lack of technical skills • Funding

Expected Outcomes • Continuous access to agricultural markets and information exchange • Increased networking and collaboration among farmers, agricultural associations and information providers resulting in increased business productivity • Public information and communications technology access and training

Purpose of the Kenya Trip (`04 May) • Gain a better first hand understanding of the information needs of farmers, fishermen and livestock traders in the Lake Victoria region • Meet with local officials to discuss ATK and further develop the potential partnership with the government • Finalize deliverables
