Early Life • Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889. • He wanted to be an artist as a young man. He attempted to go to art school in Vienna but was rejected. • He spent much of his youth fighting with other kids and working on his leadership skills. He would often do reenactments of the Boer War. • He would later drop out of school and join the military. • Fought in the first world war. He later began getting interested in politics.
Politics • Hitler began getting interested in politics after he was asked to observe a small party at a local beer hall. • He would work his way to the top of Germany when a failing Versailles Republic could not help the German economy. • He would grow that local beer hall group to eventually become one of the biggest parties the world has ever seen. • This party would be called the Nazi Party.
Hitler’s Rule • Hitler became a dictator in Germany. He would eventually have total control over Germany. • Hitler’s rule in Germany was done by fear. • Hitler often persecuted and killed many of his people. • Jews are the most well known group of people that Hitler and the Nazi party would kill. • Hitler would kill over 6,000,000 Jews in his time in power.
How Hitler Helped Start WWII • Hitler knew eventually there would be another world war. • Hitler would slowly but surely continue to build up his military even though there were restrictions put on them in the Versailles Treaty. • Hitler had all power in Germany and was able to do pretty much whatever he wanted. • Hitler continued his pursuit to expand German rule and take over Europe. He knew that this would set off another major war. He first attacked Poland. This set off events that began WWII.
