  1. FTS Priorities and Status Markus Schulz IT-GD November 14th 2006

  2. Priorities for FTS • Top priority is and was to keep the service running • This includes the service instance at CERN • This includes assistance in troubleshooting the “LCG data moving service” • FTSs, SRM end points, Information System ……. • This includes monitoring tools • Second to this is the move to SRM-2.2 • Everything else competes with the above • Monitoring tools • FTS functional improvements • Delegation, DB access change to improve stability of the service, hooks for experiment specific code for registration and notification….

  3. Who? • Currently we have two people working on the FTS team • Gavin McCance and Paolo Bandino • 3rd level support (quite often envolved) • Provide procedures for operators (1st level support) • Provide training for 2nd level support • VO-relationship management • Development • About 1 bug fix, adaptation to external changes (like storagesystems) per 2 weeks • Monitoring tools • FTS • Analysis of problems with the LCG data movement • Additional support by: • Steve Traylen • CERN FTS sysadmin support • 1st level support by FIO operators • Daemon restart etc. • 2nd level support • Konstantin, Maarten, Rolandas • Maarten and James • Analysis of problems with the LCG data movement

  4. Status FTS-2.0 • In the last 3 months only about 10-20% went into SRM-2.2 and FTS-2.0 development • The rest went into service support (including monitoring) • Next Steps • Concentrate service work on Gavin • Move monitoring development to Paul Millar and Indian Team • Train new team member arriving next month • SRM client libs are now coded and will go through unit testing this week • Paolo will be off for 2 weeks • Prototype of FTS-2.0 for experiments to test will be available 2nd week of December • Mostly integration work needed • Production ready end of January

  5. Effect on SRM-2.2 • Until 2nd week of December • SRM-2.2 endpoints tests via gfal and lcg-utils • Gfal + lcg-utils RPMs ready now • Flavia is running tests based on RAL code • http://gdrb02.cern.ch:25000/srms2test/scripts/protos/srm/2.2/basic/history/2006-11-13/11:22/ • ATLAS started tests • Stephen Burke • LHCb started tests • Greig A Cowan and Andres F. Osorio
