Update: • Last year AGC approved the formation of a team to set the SAT cut scores this summer, this decision was accepted by the Provost • Since last AGC meeting, our team has met three times • Using information provided by the College Board regarding concordance and data from other regional colleges that had already established new SAT scores to establish new scores

  4. Benchmark Results These figures were compiled from 8 regional community colleges

New Cut Scores • GRCC SAT Cut Score and Placement Test Requirements: • Students who score a 24 or lower on their reading, writing, or math SAT subject tests will be required to take the corresponding placement test in a proctored environment prior to GRCC admission. • Students who score a 25 or higher on their SAT math subject test will be required to take ALEKS math placement prior to enrollment in a math course (unless they have the college level prerequisite established). • GRCC ACT Cut Score and Placement Test Requirements: • Students who score a 17 or lower on their reading, writing, or math ACT subject tests will be required to take the corresponding placement test in a proctored environment prior to GRCC admission. • Students who score a 18 or higher on their ACT math subject test will be required to take ALEKS math placement prior to enrollment in a math course (unless they have the college level prerequisite established).

Next Steps • Admissions & Enrollment working to change all communications and processes to reflect these new cut score by early September • Team will continue to meet to explore use of SAT, ACT, and other data points (i.e., GPA) for direct placement • Expand team to include Advising and Institutional Research • Collect and evaluate institutional research on student test scores and high school GPA related to college level outcomes (e.g., course completion, retention, college GPA, etc.) • Collect and evaluate other benchmark research on college use of data for direct placement • Develop recommendations to present to AGC and college leadership
