  3. Flat Characters Characters that we know very little about are called flat characters. These are your minor characters.

  5. Flat Characters Dory is a good example of a flat character. We know that she has short time memory loss, but that’s about it.

  6. 2 ROUND CHARACTERS

  7. Round Characters A character that we know a great deal about is a round character. The main character is usually the round character.

  9. Round Characters Marlin is a good example of a round character. We know his background and that he is overprotective of his son. We learn a lot about his personality as he searches desperately for Nemo.

  11. Static Characters A static characterwill stay the same throughout the story. He or she is not really affected by the events in the story. There are no changes to his or her personality.

  13. Static Character Lord Farquaad is a static character. He is evil from beginning to end.

  15. Dynamic Characters A dynamic characterchangesduring the story. Something happens in the story to cause the character to change his or her behavior or way of thinking .

  16. How do we know Shrek is a dynamic character?

  17. Dynamic Characters Shrek is the perfect dynamic character. Think of how he changes from a mean old grump to a kind-hearted soul as he falls in love with the princess.
