Statistics show that construction workers face the highest fatality rate for all industries. When a construction worker is injured in an accident, the cost can be large for the individual and their family members. • Although employees are required to act properly while at work and exercise good judgment, ultimately their health and safety is the employer’s responsibility. These employers may not be able to make their work site accident proof, but they can follow certain safety guidelines to keep the workplace as safe as possible.

They must know how to properly and safely operate the equipment that is specific to their particular job. They should also know how to properly handle and discard any chemical or toxic substances they may be handling. • Provide the Right Equipment • It is the employer’s duty to properly inspect the equipment they are providing to their employees. Employers should have a regular inspection schedule of all tools and machinery provided at jobsites.
