  2. YEAR 2 Training 11th November – teachers new to Year 2 18th November – experienced teachers in Year 2 PDC 9.15am – 3.30pm

  3. Year 6 Training 3rd December – teachers new to Year 6 6th December – experienced teachers in Year 6 PDC 9.15am – 3.30pm

  4. Key Stage One Moderation All schools in sample for 2011 have been informed Some changes have been made in light of the QCDA moderating visit LA open offer of moderation to any additional schools who would like to be moderated Further information in Headteacher’s bulletin Moderation to take place from 6th – 24th June

  5. Lead Teacher update Currently no funding available from the LA for the cost of releasing lead teachers from their schools to work in other schools Visits to lead teachers can still be brokered through Cath Burns

  6. Primary Maths Challenge 2010 1st Place – St Agnes 98 / 111 points 2nd Place – Holy Family 96 / 111 3rd Place – Chisenhale 88 / 111 4th Place – St Luke’s 88 / 111

  7. Olympic Curriculum Trial Work continues with unit 2 ‘Welcoming the World’ currently being trialled by Mowlem Primary School. Unit 3 ‘2012 and Beyond’ is currently being written continuing the cross curriculum theme.

  8. School to School Visits A pilot programme run on behalf of the DfE

  9. What is it? • A school to school learning visit programme • Any state funded primary or secondary school in England can arrange a 3-5 hour visit to a host school • 2-3 ‘host’ schools have been identified under 6 headings • These schools are located nationwide (1 in London) • Visitors play an active role in contributing to the improvement of the school

  10. What are the benefits? • Share leading practice • Meet peers from the host school • Opportunity to discuss any of the ‘topic’ areas • Provide host school with constructive feedback to contribute for continuous improvement of school • Peer to peer knowledge exchange • Networking opportunity

  11. Topic areas • Narrowing the gap for disadvantaged pupils • Maximising pupil progress through the effective use of assessment data • Teachers and teaching assistants as writers – (improving writing at key stage 2 based on Pie Corbett research) • Leading practice in Secondary Modern schools • Effective transition from Early Years to school • Sustainable schools

  12. How to become a host school? • You must have a ‘story to tell’ • Be prepared to share ‘warts and all’ • May be judged outstanding by Ofsted, or have received a teaching award or implementing inspirational practices • A member of the ‘School to School Visits’ team will undertake a visit to your school to assess your suitability

  13. What support can I get from School to School team? • All host school will have a dedicated page on the ‘School to School’ website • Ensure that host schools are not ‘over visited’

  14. Does it cost? • Each school is responsible for its own expenses
