  1. ProfessionalEngineersOntario VolunteerRequirements Professional Engineers Ontario is Ontario’s engineering regulator. It heavily banks on its volunteers as a regulator. Over 700 professional engineers,engineeringinternsandnon-engineersvolunteertheirtime everyyearonbehalfofthisorganizationbyparticipating.

  2. TheprofessionofengineeringinthisCanadianprovinceisgoverned throughself-regulation,whichisaprivilegegivenbytheprovincial government under the Professional Engineers Act. PEO relies on members’voluntaryparticipationtomanageandgovernitsaffairs. Itsvolunteerstakepartoncommittees,taskforcesanditsProfessional Engineers Ontario’s 36 chapters, working together to support the association. Councilappointscommitteestoaddressacontinuingrequirementand generallystandforseveralyears.Taskforceshavealimitedlifeperiod, andtheyareappointedbyCounciloritsExecutiveCommittee,tostudy problems,developrecommendationsoroverseespecialinitiatives. Asaregulatingorganization,itrecognizesvolunteerswhohaveservedon chapters, committees, task forces, or PEO Council and celebrates attainments of milestone years of service. It recognizes professional engineers and others who have given conspicuous service to the profession of engineering, usually through association, by means of the OrderofHonourawardsprogram. ProfessionalEngineersOntarioVolunteerApplicantRequirements: The Ontario Government mandates that a volunteer gets occupational healthandsafetyandaccessibilitytraining.Thepurposeofthistrainingis toletthevolunteerhasaclearideaoftheirrightsandresponsibilitiesasa volunteer,aswellastheirdutieswhentheyworkasavolunteer.Itwillallow themtodotheirworkinharmonywiththelawandwithsafety.

HowtovolunteerwithProfessionalEngineersOntario: Thefollowingarethefivestepstovolunteeringwiththeorganization: YouneedtocompleteOccupationalHealth&Safety,HumanRights andAccessibilityTraining,whichincludesthefollowing: WorkplaceViolenceandHarassmentTrainingforEmployees(OntarioBills 168and132) AdeepunderstandingofHumanRightsTraining AODACustomerServiceTraining(Condensed) Forregistration,mailyourPEOnumber,legalname,emailaddress,PEO number, chapter affiliation (when applying for a chapter position) and volunteerpositionyouapplyfor(ifapplicable)tovolunteering@peo.on.ca. Youwillgetlog-ininformationwithinacoupleofdays. Fillupthevolunteerapplicationformandsubmititto volunteering@peo.on.cawithyourlatestresume IncaseofapplyingtobeaCOMMITTEE/TASKFORCEvolunteer, theorganizationwillreachyouifyougetselectionforaninterview. WhenapplyingtobeaCHAPTERvolunteer,theorganizationwillnotify yourchapterthatyouhaveappliedtobecomeavolunteer.Thechapter maycontactyoutohaveaninterview.

IfyougetaselectiontoserveasaPEOvolunteer,youneedto submitthebelow-givendocumentstovolunteering@peo.on.ca: Signedpage2ofVolunteerCodeofConduct SignedConfidentialityAgreement Beforestartingyourvolunteerservice,youneedtocompletePEO’s volunteer orientation!
