  7. the Officers Worshipful Master Senior Warden Junior Warden Treasurer Secretary Chaplain Tiler Senior Deacon Junior Deacon Senior Steward Junior Steward Marshal * Master of Ceremonies * *optional

  8. Elected or Appointed? Grand Lodge requires that we elect: Worshipful Master Senior and Junior Wardens Treasurer and Secretary Other officers can be elected or appointed depending upon our by-laws Our by-laws provide for the appointment of all other officers

  9. General Rules Officers (except Tiler) must be members (EA's & FC's are not members) Cannot hold 2 offices in the same Lodge Cannot hold offices in more than one Lodge if stated meetings conflict Cannot be Worshipful Master in more than one Lodge at any given time

  10. Considerations Availability (has time with few conflicts) Attendance (makes most meetings) Ritual skills (opening & closing) Willingness (wants the responsibility) New Mason (use him or lose him) the “right” personality

  11. Treasurer and Secretary Trustworthy Knowledge of duties Experience in Masonry Could be Past Masters Are probably re-elected year after year May be compensated

  12. Senior and Junior Wardens Attendance and punctuality Did well in previous position(s) Willing and able to learn Exhibit leadership skills Have management potential Shall be proficient and knowledgeable Must be able to serve as Master

  13. Worshipful Master Must have served as either: Worshipful Master (in any jurisdiction); or Sr. or Jr. Warden (in this jurisdiction) Shall be proficient and knowledgeable Should have: Leadership ability Managerial ability Masonic knowledge

  14. Required... Election: last stated meeting prior to June 24 This year – May stated meeting (23rd) Appointments: by Worshipful Master soon thereafter Installation: June 24 to July 31 (inclusive) This year – July 6 at 2:00 PM

  15. Traditions Treasurer & Secretary are re-elected(vacancies usually filled by Past Masters) Jr. Warden is elected Sr. Warden Sr. Warden is elected Worshipful Master Each Lodge has itsowntraditions Does 33 have traditions?
