  4. Legislative Evolution of Athletic Training First act in 1971 (Texas) Most enacted in 80’s & 90’s – 10 since 2000 Recently enacted acts are generally less restrictive States beginning to update their practice acts

  5. Athlete Safety as an AT issue In 2006, Texas again led the way For years, working with schools to hire ATs for more than just “coverage” – in lieu of no care at all In 2009, Lystedt Law and Max’s Law enacted Concussion as the media darling
