  4. Illinois AVNStatistics • Over 50,000 searches in March • Over 5,000 phone notifications a month • Over 900 e-mail notifications a month • DOC sends over 87,000 records 15 times a day • Over 25,000 people have registered for notification

  5. Illinois AVN Structure • Statutory authority given to the Attorney General to establish & maintain the system • Advisory Committee created by statute • State entities mandated to participate • County participation is voluntary • County Officials sign Intergovernmental Agreements

  6. Illinois AVNImplementation • Establish Advisory Committee early • Seek input and buy-in from stakeholders • Discuss the concept with all involved parties • This is more than a tool – it is a philosophy • Ensure sustainability in the beginning • Dealing with the “What if….”

  7. ILLINOIS AVNStaffing • Two major functions - Policy and management - Day-to-day operations • Monitoring is a daily activity • Education is ongoing • Future planning requires input from all involved
