  8. Student Accounts • Every student 3rd grade and up has their own account and storage folder • Special accounts with limited access have been created for students below 3rd gradered, green, blue accounts

  9. File Storage • All files are saved onto our servers • Students and staff can access their files from any district computers • Files on the server are backed up on a regular basis • Files on the servers are scanned for viruses

Software Standards Word Processing - Microsoft Word Spreadsheet – Microsoft Excel Database – Microsoft Access for individuals, SQL for shared databases Desktop Publishing – Microsoft Publisher Anti-virus – Symantec (installed on all computers and servers). Email - Exchange Server and Microsoft Outlook clients for staff; Gaggle.net for students Operating Systems – Windows 2000 or XP Professional

Off Hour Computer Activity • As staff leave – on startup at the end of the day new software or changes to software are installed on computers that need the updates. • After/before hours- tech staff remotely access computers to work on service requests • 6:00 pm till 1:00 am - user files are backed up to our backup servers • 10:00 pm - security updates are installed on computers; some require a restart of the computer. The computers restart automatically after the update. • 1:30 am to 3:00 am – Symantec Antivirus checks every file on each computer hard drive and removes viruses and spy ware that it finds. • 2:00 am – Computer hard drives are defragmented every Tuesday. • In addition to the above schedule we have plans for scheduling and running other maintenance utilities on computers to get them running to their optimal operating efficiency.

  26. Virus Protection • All servers have virus protection. All files saved on a server are scanned for viruses • Server logs are monitored to find viruses on workstations • Email messages are scanned for viruses • All Staff and Student Computers have Symantec Antivirus installed. The virus signatures are updated automatically.
