  4. ???? Who is Luigi Galvani? • An Italian physicist • Discovered that muscles of dead frogs’ legs twitched when struck by a spark • Assumed that the tissues of the frogs legs contained electricity !!

  5. First battery . Alessandro Volta? • Friend & colleague of Luigi Galvani • Did many experiments to test Luigi’s theory • Proved Luigi wrong – frog legs do not contain electricity • Through the process of doing all the experiments he invented battery!! voltaic pile

  8. What we like about the inventor? • His perseverance and self-confidence he did not give up he dreamed big and set challenging goals for himself

  9. Alessandro Volta • Became a physicist at the age of 14 • Invented battery at the age of 55 in year 1800 • Died at the age of 82 • The term “volt” was named after him
