Making salt • Remember, a salt is made during a neutralisation reaction, when an acid neutralises a base • The salt is named as follows: the first part refers to metal (alkali) and the second refers to the acid that was neutralised hydrochloric acid + sodium hydroxide  sodiumchloride + water acid + alkali  salt + water

Assessment • You need to design a cartoon of the reactions which produce copper sulphate • You can use any reaction you want in producing the copper sulphate, but the chemicals you use must be represented by the cartoon character - each type of atom has its own character • E.g. the cartoon character which represents copper may be: and sulphuric acid may be: Sulphuric acid - made up of hydrogen (Bart); sulphur (Marge) and oxygen(Maggie) atoms Copper - just one type of atom
