Using the tool on an example Proposal to shorten waiting times for patients waiting for hip replacements • Patients on waiting list to be called at home on telephone and asked if they would consider being treated at another hospital in a neighbouring region, to obtain treatment more quickly • Treatment involves surgery then recovery as in-patient • Patient’s travel costs, and those of visitors, will be refunded • Patients mainly older people aged over 65
