  6. Graduate Organization Allocations Fall 2012

  7. Budget Overview • $22,000 from SA for the Fall semester • $11,000 budgeted for GSA activities • $5,500 budgeted for travel grants • $5,500 budgeted for grad organizations.

  8. Allocation Criteria • Reasonableness of cost estimations for the event • Estimated/past attendance • Perceived benefit to the campus community • Efforts to use own funds and resources • Involvement in community service • Completeness of application and accompanying materials

  9. Events Priorities • Educational events given most important priority • Main cultural exchange events given priority • Cultural events which is within the organization given priority • Social Events which includes all the students given priority • Social Events within department given priority

  10. Biograds • Requested : $400 • Allocated: $400 • Reasonably low budget events • Department provides part of the meal • Community service involvement • TU Service Day • Event include: • Career development lunches, journal club meetings, outdoor team building activity, zoo

  11. English Graduate Students Association (EGSA) • Requested: $942.50 • Allocated: $875 • Low budget activities • Active community service involvement • Adopt a family, annual book drive, food bank volunteer • Events include: • Speakers, workshop and socials

  12. Persian Students Association (PSA) • Requested: $3,565 • Allocated: $1,500 • Some high budget requests and events • Community service plan for the semester with Wesley Foundation • 7 events and 4 meetings planned for the semester • Ialda night, Persian dance night, poetry night etc.

  13. Graduate Students in Psychology (GRASP) • Requested: $1,410 • Allocated: $1,000 • One high budget request • Actively involved in community service • Tulsa Food Bank, Tulsa SPCA, Tulsa Garden Center • Events include: • Clinical meeting, I/O speakers, tailgate, Halloween party

  14. Indian Students Association (ISA) • Requested: $1,150 • Allocated: $1,000 • Reasonable budget for the events • Community service at Hindu Temple of Greater Tulsa (planned for this semester) • Events include: • Diwali, Fresher’s party, International Bazaar

  15. Chemistry & Biochemistry GSA • Requested: $1,050 • Allocated: $725 • Reasonableness of budgeted events • Community service include: • Science demos, interactive chemistry lesson with girls scouts • Events include: • Seminar, disc golf competition, potluck

Reminders • Coffee and Donuts on Tuesday • Send in Bio’s and Pics to Karen for website • A&S Lunch this Wednesday September 26th 11:30 at Chapman • Monday – TOMORROW - Deadline for GSA Travel Grants Applications • Next Senate Meeting – This is a BIG change!!!! • As many of our officers and our Hope will be out of state on the 7th, we will change the next senate meeting to the 2nd Sunday of October. • October 14, 2012
