  3. Cherry Hill, New York In 1800’s was new They came to settle

  4. It was erected Next to the Hudson River Proud, strong, built to last

  5. Aristocrats Lived here, heads held high, so vain Generations past

  6. Many come and go Wear and tear begins to build Creeks and cracks

  7. Fill the corridors Time goes on, things always change And soon their power

  8. Begins to feel strain Immigrants came demanding Power and suffrage

  9. Their name lost its weight Their aristocracy dying Things falling apart

  10. Our Democracy Their bane came, rearing its head What was dying before

  11. Is now dead, buried The industrial giants Came on new trains

  12. The new businesses Rockefellers black oil Fueled the new era

  13. Vanderbilt's railroad’s Connecting the new cities Economy grew

  14. Carnegies shiny steel Built towering skyscrapers Our new infrastructure

  15. Making millions Robber Barron’s were the top Van Renselaer dead

  16. Loosing power then Falling out of social grace Now, feeling the squeeze

  17. Emily Rankin The last to live in this house Wanting to restore

  18. What had lost to time Colonial revival She decorated

  19. Anti-Suffragist Her views became out-dated Sexist in nature

  20. Emily Rankin Backwards, perpetuating “Well-bred, young woman”

  21. Cherry Hill is old Beat up and kicked down We think it should not be kept
