Personnel Requirements 1. The maximum vision impairment: 20 x 50. 2. Students shall have normal color perception. 3. Contacts MAY be worn during aircraft firefighting.

  7. Course Composition, Schedule and Routine continued Muster shall be held 15 minutes prior to commencement of class, daily. Afternoon muster shall be held prior to class reconvening. • F.   9. Morning muster shall be made prior to going to sick call appointment. Do not make routine dental appointments. After school emergencies If trainees receive a light or no duty chit they shall bring it back to an instructor the following morning. (Do not send medical chits with another student.) Upon receipt of a bed rest chit, trainees shall telephone an instructor (2-7600/2-7606). The instructor shall come to the barracks to pick up the chit. Rules and Regulations • Classrooms and break areas • Keep clean at all times. No sleeping during class hours

  11. Course Composition, Schedule and Routine continued • No tobacco products allowed in any classroom. • Smoking is permitted in designated areas only. • Cleanup assignments are made by the designated class leader. (LPO) • Cleanup shall be completed prior to securing each day.

General Safety • MISHAP:Any unplanned or unexpected event causing personnel injury, occupational illness, death, material loss, damage or explosion of any kind whether damage occurs or not. • NEAR MISHAP: A condition that might exist which, if allowed to go unchecked or uncorrected has the potential to cause a mishap or an act or event which might result in a mishap in which injury or damage was avoided merely by chance. • UNSAFE CONDITION: A hazardous condition, hazard a workplace condition that might result in injury, disease or death to any worker who exposed to the condition, damage or loss to property or equipment.

  14. General Safety • Classroom • Do not touch any training aids unless directed to do so. • Aircraft Carrier Deck and Salvage Sites • Smoking in designated areas only • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) clothing at all times, when training at the Aircraft Carrier Deck and Salvage Sites.

  15. General Safety continued • Equipment will not be operated without the presence of an instructor. • Do not stand on top any vehicle or equipment. • Remove all jewelry. • Keep all sites free from debris at all times.

  16. General Safety continued • In case of fire or fire drill, immediately evacuate the building, mustering with the designated class leader in a pre-designated area. • Same procedures for building evacuation drills. • Emergency Shutdown • Signal - Arms crossed above head with palms forward

General Safety continued • Once an emergency shutdown is called, trainees shall muster at a location specified by an instructor. • Heat Stress • A decrease of just two percent in body weight due to fluid losses can significantly alter body temperature and the ability to conduct physical work. The problem becomes magnified when fluid intake is not maintained.

  18. As a result, the individual is unable to maintain his or her internal temperature and body temperature begins to rise. Students and staff should drink water frequently and as much as they need. Infrequent large intakes made lead to stomach distension, vomiting, or cardiac problems. Needs may range from two quarts to three gallons a day, but may increase to five gallons a day when performing heavy work in hot weather. In fact the need for water may exceed the desire. Ideally personnel should drink until their urine becomes clear or pale yellow. General Safety continued

General Safety continued • Training Time Out • A Training Time Out (TTO) may be called by any student or instructor in any training situation where they are concerned for their own or another’s safety, or they request clarification of procedures or requirements. TTO is also an appropriate means for a student to obtain relief if he or she is experiencing pain, heat stress or other means of physical discomfort.

General Safety continued The purpose of TTO is to correct the situation of concern, provide clarifying information, or remove the student or instructor from the possible hazardous environment. • A TTO may be signaled by placing one hand across the top of the other forming the letter “T” as seen and used in most sporting events. If the TTO signal is not acknowledged, the signaler shall shout “Time Out”.

  21. General Safety continued The instructor shall attempt to relieve and remove the student from the possible hazardous environment. If an adequate number of instructors are available to allow training to continue safely, the lead instructor may elect to do so. However if this is not practical, training will be stopped until the situation is corrected.

General Safety continued • Following a TTO the training situation shall be examined and additional explanation and instruction will be provided as necessary to allow safe resumption of training. Once the lead instructor on scene is fully apprised of the problems, he/she shall direct all training to cease or training with unaffected students to continue based on the situation.

General Safety continued • Your instructors are responsible for maintaining situational awareness and shall remain alert to signs of student panic, fear, extreme exhaustion, or lack of confidence that may impair safe completion of the training exercise. Instructors shall cease training immediately when they consider such action appropriate.

  24. General Safety continued • If a student refuses to participate in training after being instructed or after an unsafe condition has been corrected, or uses TTO excessively to disrupt training, that student shall be removed from training for further counseling and/or administrative processing.

  27. Completion of Course • Graduation • A completion certificate will be presented to each individual. • Team results are reported by message to the ship’s Commanding Officer with a copy to the Type Commander. • Critique sheets are available throughout the course.

  28. Parking is permitted for students in grassy area next to ATD building. NO INTERACTION BETWEEN FLEET RETURNEES AND NATTC STUDENTS. 21 is the legal age to drink in Florida. Drinking and driving will not be tolerated while attending school at NATTC. Use designated driver program.
