  2. Your Binder • Everyone should have a three ring binder and dividers. • Divide your notebook into: • DQ’s • Handouts • Assignments/Homework • Quizzes • Special Projects

  3. KEEP EVERYTHING!!! Keep Everything!!!

  4. MLA Format • Please label all work in MLA Format: • Name • Teacher’s Name • Class/Hour • Date

  5. DQs- Daily Questions • Daily questions are your daily Bell work • They will be displayed on the Smart Board • You will have until 5 minutes after the bell rings to finish • If you do not finish, you can find them Online. • They are a weekly Grade

  6. Forgot your materials? • If you forget your materials, I will have some of the essentials in the back of the room • Loose-leaf paper • Pencils • Pens • Please return pens and pencils back at the end of the hour. • Please come to class prepared each day

  7. Make-Up Work • Please do not ask me for make-up work. • Visit my website • Go to the lesson plan tab • Find the date you were gone • You have then found your make-up work www.englishwithmrscook.weebly.com

  8. Mrs. Cook’s Library • Any student may check out a book from my library • Choose a Book • Sign the Sheet • Return the book by the end of the semester • Please check out the “legal” way • Don’t ruin the process for everyone

  11. Bonus Points • There will be opportunities for bonus points. • I will not give any bonus points the last week of school because your grade is low right before report cards. Just turn in your work. • There may be questions on the board worth bonus points. The answers must be in the box on my desk before the bell rings. • I will not accept answers for bonus questions after the bell rings

  12. Bonus Points • You may also receive bonus points if you catch a spelling or grammatical mistake that I make. • I will make the class aware of any other bonus opportunities throughout the year.

  13. Re-doing assignments • Any assignment receiving a 60% or below can be redone for half the missed credit. • Example- You made a 50% on a paper. You redo it and get a 95%. It will raise your grade to a 73%. • Please get approval from Mrs. Cook prior to redoing your work.

  14. Silencing Technique • When there is too much talking, I will simply stop and Raise my hand. • Once you see my hand, stop talking, face forward and raise your hand as well. • I may also hold up my quiet sign.

  15. Music/iPods • When there is independent workto be done, you may listen to your own musicbut only if I give permission. • I will often play music during class • You cannot complain about my music choice • You may not touch my iPod • I promise to play a variety of music

  17. Things that irritate Mrs. Cook • Please do not use the words “gay” or “retarted” in my class. I find these words unacceptable! • Do not touch my iPod! • Leave things on my deskalone! • Do not touch the thermostat. If you feel it needs adjusting, please let me know and I will make arrangements if necessary.

  18. More things that irritate Mrs. Cook • Please keep our classroom environment clean. I will never come to your house and make a mess. • No smacking gum. You may have gum as long as I do not hear it or see it anywhere. • Value the room. I worked hard to make a visually stimulating room. Please don’t wreck it. • Do not write on my board
