  1. Essential and toxic microelements in grains of Fusarium-infected maize and wheat genotypes: ICP-MS analysis Zsuzsanna Kolbert, Attila Ördög, Ágnes Vashegyi, László Erdei Two countries, one goal, joint success!

  2. Materials and methods • Plant material: • 2 maize genotypes (twosamplingtimes) • 13 wheat genotypes • Infection: • Fusariumgraminearum • Fusariumculmorum • Fusariumverticillioides • Samplepreparation: • 500 – 1000 mg fromeachsample • microwavedigestioninnitricacid and hydrogenperoxide • dilutionto 200 - 400 X • Measurement: • Microelementanalysis (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Mo, Cd, Pb) by ICP-MS device Two countries, one goal, joint success!

  3. The advantages of an ICP-MS • More than 1000 samples in one week (up to 250 samples/day) • More than 15000 data from the analysis • Lot of information in a few seconds (less than a second per element) • User-friendly software (PlasmaLab), which makes the data analysis easier and faster Two countries, one goal, joint success!
