To access the library page from the new college website, click on Academics and then Mahoney Library on the left side of the page The library website, redesigned to be more user friendly and better organized. Coolcat:catalog Evaluate sources: Databases alphabetically or by subject. Locate full text. Subject guides: New central access point to resources for a particular academic discipline. Newspapers encyclopedias Borrow from another library Quick links: Popular sites Ask Online: Email reference

Mahoney library Exploring career paths: Ferguson's Career Guidance Center (Also available through Facts on File from the Encyclopedias & Reference link on the library home page) Jobs • Provides detailed profiles of over 3,300 jobs and 94 industries, advice on career skills & other resources. • To see career descriptions click on • the Jobs link from the home page. • 2. This will take you to a list of broad • categories, broken down by more • specific industries. • Click on an industry to get extensive • commentary on that profession, • including industry outlook. Fashion industry Also note related careers, providing even more specific information like salary ranges and work environment.

Exploring career paths:Occupational Outlook Handbook • Government resource providing profiles for hundreds of different occupations, including : • Training and education • Expected earnings and jobs prospects, • What workers do and normal working conditions. • The OOH is updated every two years. . 1. To search the OOH, scroll down until you see the link for Search box. Click on it and the search box will appear. • Enter your profession into the search box and click search. Mahoney library Narrowing the search by region:New Jersey Career Assistance Navigator (NJCAN) NJCAN contains the latest state and local labor market data & projections, and many useful tools and techniques to assist you in your job search: Click on Occupations for in a listing of occupations and corresponding employment outlooks in New Jersey. • 1. Descriptions of an extensive listing of industries and occupations with outlooks and projections for future growth specific to New Jersey. • Assessment tools and techniques to assist you in selecting the right career path for you. • Resources to assist you in resume and cover letter creation. • Listings of New Jersey employers organized by industry and county. New Jersey Employer Search Employment and outlook Health Care & Social Assistance Actuaries To enter the site, select your hometown from the dropdown menu, enter your zipcode and area code and then click on the Sign In button.

  9. Locating Employers: Searching Reference USA Business type Lookup window Reference USA is a powerful tool searching potential employers by industry and geographical location. Choose either U.S Businesses for the broadest range of coverage, or U.S. New Business to look at brand new businesses. View results 1.Select Custom Search for the most options in searching the database. Geography 2. Click on Business type on the left side of the screen to search for specific occupations. 3. Click on Geography, to limit your results to a specific range, based on a specific zip code. 4. For keyword searching, type the occupation in the lookup window and click on lookup. 5.   10. Reviewing search results Full company profile is provided which may be very useful for your research. Complete address & telephone information & driving directions. Management Directory provides contact information, noting gender of the contact. Corporate informationwith link to the company’s webpage. New Jersey Labor Exchange Career searching tool allowing the user to search for job postings by keyword, industry group or occupation, and by location through four different sources: • Job Central • Simply hired • Indeed • Google Limit by distance from stated location You can also limit your results by the distance from your location within a specific range, Or limit your results by when the job was posted, specific industries, and in many other ways.
