Kinetic Molecule Theory • Matter generally expands with increased temperature and contracts with decreased temperature • Higher temperatures molecules are moving faster – therefore they move further apart = expansion • Lower temperatures molecules are moving slower – therefore less movement = contraction • St. Louis Arch Heat & Temperature
