Considerations for Curriculum and Instructional Designs • Curriculum is a set of prescribed experiences that cause learning. • Curriculum has both a scope (focus) and sequence (range) for the learning experiences. • Knowledge, skill, and disposition are three critical components within a curriculum.

  3. Considerations for Curriculum and Instructional Designs • Curriculum is influenced by national (learned societies), state (GA QCCs and Performance Standards,) and local (city and county school systems) standards. • Curriculum is also influenced by political, social, and special interest groups.

  4. Considerations for Curriculum and Instructional Designs • Instructional design is a systematic plan for delivering prescribed experiences to cause learning. • There must be a targeted goal(s) and objective(s) for systematic instruction.

  5. Considerations for Curriculum and Instructional Designs • The three critical components of an instructional design are: • Where is it going (goals and objectives)? • What will it take to get there (materials and procedures)? • How well did it do (assessment)? • There are ten major components to the ECED lesson plan format.
