  5. Climate • Cold • Lots of Snow • It is so cold there is permafrost, permafrost is a layer of permanently frozen soil • In the winter it is 20 – 30 degrees F • In the summer it is 40 – 50 degrees F • Precipitation totals to 6 – 10 inches of rain a year

  8. plants • The Tundra has short plants. • The plants sprout grow and bloom in a matter of weeks. • The roots are shallow to get water. • There are also no trees in the Tundra. • Because of the permafrost. • One of the plants name is yellow Tundra flower it can grow in the coldest weather.

  9. Animals • Snowy owl : feathers (for flying ), talons (for protecting) • Polar bear: fur (to keep warm) , camouflage (to hide ), teeth (protection), claws(protection) , blubber(for warmth)
