  2. St. Edward’s University …recognizing that learning is a lifelong process, teach the skills needed to be independent and productive. The faculty encourage individuals to confront the critical issues of society and to seek justice and peace. Students are helped to understand themselves, clarify their personal values and recognize their responsibility to the world community. The university gives the example of its own commitment to service. St. Edward’s was founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross, from which it acquired distinguishing characteristics: the courage to take risks, an international perspective, and the commitment to provide educational opportunities for students of varied cultural, religious, educational and economic backgrounds…

  3. School of Natural sciences School Profile: The School of Natural Sciences at St. Edward’s offers 10 majors : biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, chemistry, forensic chemistry, environmental chemistry, environmental science, computer science, computer information science, and mathematics. In Fall 2016 had a total enrollment of 651 students, nearly 14% of the total undergraduate enrollment. Of these 96% were full-time students 41% were underrepresented minorities with Hispanic students representing the largest proportion at 3%. The students are served by 38 ranked faculty, 19 adjuncts. In 2016 number of biology majors was at 287, second largest at SEU. Student Profile: In 2016 the School of Natural Sciences had a total of 69 graduates, with number averaging 73 per year since 2010. Since 2001 the Freshman-to-sophomore year retention increased from 74.6% in 2001 to 84.6% in 2014. Two-year retention rates increased from 62.8% in 1999 to 74% for the 2014. Six year graduation rate is 63.6 %.
