  3. Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (BAPCPA) Affects filings AFTER October 17, 2005 BAPCPA requires: • Credit Counseling within 6 months BEFORE filing for bankruptcy • Debtor Education AFTER filing / before debts are discharged.
