  2. Leafy Vegetables Leafy vegetables are rich in potassium and provide better ratio of potassium to sodium. This ratio helps in lowering blood pressure. Spinach, collard greens, turnip greens and romaine lettuce are best as they are rich in potassium.

  3. Berries Berries especially blueberries are rich in flavonoids and it has been proven scientifically that these compounds help in lowering blood pressure. Thus, you must include them in your diet to reduce blood pressure.

  4. Potatoes Potatoes are rich in magnessium and potassium and both these minerals help in lowering blood pressure. Potatoes are also rich in fibres which makes them crucial for an overall healthy diet.

  5. Beets Studies have proved that beatroot juice helps in lowering blood pressure immediately. The nitrates present in the juice helps in reducing blood pressure within 24 hours.

  6. Skim Milk Skim milk is great source of low fat and calcium which is best for lowering blood pressure. Alternatively, you can also have low or no fat yogurt if you are not a fan of milk.

  7. Oatmeal All you need for lowering blood pressure is low sodium, low fat and hig fiber food and oatmeal fulfils all these criterias.

  8. Bananas Rather than taking any supplements it is best to have bananas to add potassium to your diet.
