The performance management cycle • Giving feedback • Feedback is a way to reinforce appropriate behaviour, standards of practice or bring about individual change. • It facilitates self-reflection and open dialogue between employees and management, and supports understanding and acknowledgement of strengths and weaknesses. • When feedback is used effectively, the outcomes are: • realistic career plans for the individual • benefits for the organisation from understanding each staff member’s aspirations and potential.
