  2. Instant Messaging - Jabber (1) • Jabber to be used. GAIM / JWChat clients are recommended Instant Messaging • GAIM: • Multi-protocol IM client • Available from <http://gaim.sourceforge.net/> • If this can be used, this is the recommended tool for instant messaging

  3. Instant Messaging – Jabber (2) • If the firewall stops GAIM from being used, the JWChat Java client may be an alternative Instant Messaging

  4. Note that the Chatzilla Firefox extension may provide a better interface Instant Messaging – IRC • If Jabber not possible, IRC may be another alternative Instant Messaging

  5. Instant Messaging – JISCMail • If all else fails, we can use the JISCMail chat service Instant Messaging Note that you'll need a JISCMail username to use this

  6. Use Of Wikis Wikis • You can use the Wikalong annotation service • Note: • Only one author at a time so may need to be used in managed fashion (e.g. discussion groups) • Public service – so content could be corrupted
