  5. First step lets calculate how many steps and how much distance you cover in one hour

  6. DO THE MATH • Track everything – Steps, Food, Water, Sleep • Only then I can closely monitor and guide you

  7. Climb slopes and stairs in your daily routine as well. The Mumbai Trailwalker terrain, has slopes that you need to prepare for as well

  8. Walk at a stretch • Step = Same number done on one day

  9. Ice and cold water are better than warm water for pain

  10. Clothing – Lightweight and breathable gear that dries quickly • Carry a change for the journey with support crew

  11. Wear comfortable hiking shoes; Socks that fit your feet and not too thick • 2-3 litre capacity bottle – Could get a water bladder with drinking tube • Prepare for the weather - Cap for heat, sunglasses, sunscreen, windcheater • Walking poles for support – One per team would help • Day Pack – To carry food, gear and water between the check points • Night Light for the journey – Wide and strong beam • Plan and test everything – Don’t use anything new on the day

  12. Mind your step while walking – rocky patches, so avoid a twisted ankle injury

  13. CHI walking is a method of tilting your body forward

  14. Identify hotspot and tape those areas • Every 10 Kms on the trailwalk, wipe your feet with a dry cloth

  15. FINAL MONTH WALK 50K BY NOW THIS SHOULD BE A CAKEWALK • Plan this walk with the team

  16. OUR TEAM Four walkers, our coach, support crew, pr & fund-raising team • We would put together a team • Set clear goals for the team – in how many hours you want to finish • Prepare for any situation

  18. Walk the entire journey with your team – Walk at the pace of the slowest member • Break bigger goals into smaller goals

  19. POSSIBLE STRATEGY AVOID WALKING IN THE AFTERNOON

  20. SUPPORT A PERSON IN THE SUPPORT CAR • Oxfam would assign one person to accompany our team • A car would be provided to keep our bags – Would meet at check points

  21. CHECK POINTS AT APPROXIMATELY EACH 10KMS • Place to relax, stretch, rehydrate and get set to continue!! • Medical Assistance and Food would be provided at the check points • Details of the trail are on the trailwalker.oxfamindia.org website

  22. FOOD ON THE TRAIL BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER AT CHECK POINTS Incase you would like to carry along munchies for the journey you could do so
